Research @ SusMatLab

Sustainable Materials Laboratory (SusMatLab) is Dr. Okoronkwo’s research group laboratory in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology. The research at SusMatLab focuses on the goal of recreating materials for sustainable infrastructure, energy, and environment. The team employs a combined experimental and computational techniques to elucidate the composition-structure-processing-property relationships, and apply the knowledge in designing new high perfomance and eco-efficient materials, while improving the properties of existing ones. Check out the links below for more details about the three thematic areas of our research.

Materials for Infrastructure

Developing construction materials with high durability and low carbon footprint

Materials for Energy

Designing, synthesizing and characterizing sustainable energy materials

Materials for Environment

Converting waste materials to useful products and developing hybrid functional materials for environmental remediation
